The Enterprise Zone makes living here lucrative
 In 1990 a special enterprise zone for Finnmark and North Troms was ratified by parliament.

The aim of this was to improve framework conditions for trade and businesses in the area, to create an impetus and to recruit and retain a work force in the county. Measures targeting companies provide stimulating framework conditions for companies already in existence as well as for new ones. There is no payroll tax, electric power consumption tax or investment tax in construction. Measures targeting individuals give inhabitants of Finnmark advantages in the shape of lower income taxes, higher child allowance and annual reductions of student loans.
